Menéndez, Eduardo L. Uso y desuso de conceptos: ¿dónde quedaron los olvidos?
USE AND DISUSE OF CONCEPTS IN SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY. WHERE ARE THE FORGOTTEN CONCEPTS?A continuous process of invention, erosion, appropriation and mainly oblivion, takes place in the use of Social Anthropology's basic concepts. This matter isn't occasional, but goes on with anthropological development, and it has own evidence in theoretical production. New concepts are similar to well known concept (habitus); some concepts are applied with an opposite sense (consciousness), and other are stigmatized, even professionally avoided (social class). However, the most significant feat in the use of concepts it's their own oblivion. In this paper various complementary interpretations about this fact are proposed: the most important one shows the tendency in keeping the presence of the present, and how this occurs in the anthropological knowledge and in the social production in daily life.

Besserer, Federico. Lugares paradójicos de la Mixteca
PARADOXICAL PLACES OF LA MIXTECA.Using an historical overview of the process of territorialization of the Mixtec community of San Juan Mixtepec in the Mexican State of Oaxaca, this article defies common perceptions of identity, community and territory. Aided by a methodology developed by the social studies of science, the social apparatus implied in the construction of places and territories as “a matter of fact” is reviewed and the process of place construction itself is seen as reproducing the social forms of inequality of a given time. Contrasting with the“naturalizing” constructions of place and territory, in this document I suggest that today’s Mixtecs share a complex perception of the concept of place which is at the same time “modern” and “traditional”. The “paradoxical places” that result from this perspective can be related to new ways of understanding identity as an “identity of becoming”.

Carrasco, Tania. Los productores del campo en Oaxaca
THE RURAL PRODUCERS IN OAXACA.Oaxaca is the state in which most of the indigenous population dwell and it is the first state in regards to cultural diversity in all the country, followed by Veracruz, Chiapas and Yucatán. There are 3 million 228 thousand inhabitants in the state and 1 million speak fifteen different indigenous languages. Recent studies about the situation of indigenous people in this state show that 85% of the surface of it relates to indigenous people and even though the severe drop in the agriculture productivity, the repetitive debts within the indigenous peasants, etc. They represent the present and future of rural Oaxaca. The local government cannot ignore the importance that this fact implies to the economy of the entity and above all, the search of feasible alternatives should be supported by the communication with the indigenous producers and the recognition of their economical and cultural strategies, as well as a fair distribution of the resources.
